Bike Tyres

Look at the sidewall of your existing tyre. It should show the wheel diameter and tyre width, often in inches or ETRTO format.

Sometimes, but it depends on frame, fork and rim clearance. Do not fit a wider tyre unless you are sure there is enough space.

Some e-bike tyres are built with stronger casing or added puncture protection. Standard tyres may fit some e-bikes, but always check size and suitability.

Replace a tyre if the tread is badly worn, the sidewall is cracked, the casing is damaged or punctures are becoming frequent.

For road commuting, a smoother tyre with puncture protection is usually best. For canal paths, gravel or mixed surfaces, a slightly more textured tread can help.

Not always, but it is sensible to inspect the tube and replace it if it is old, damaged or the valve is worn.
