Are Bike Conversion Kits legal in Europe?

Legality depends on the finished bike’s specification and how it’s used. For road use, the converted bike must meet EAPC requirements (pedals, compliant motor rating, and assistance limits).

What battery voltage do Bike Conversion Kits need?

Your battery must match the kit/controller voltage (commonly 36V or 48V). Always match voltage first, then confirm connector type and current capability.

Will any 48V battery work with Bike Conversion Kits?

Voltage must match, but current capability matters too. Ensure the battery’s BMS can supply the controller’s current draw, and connectors are compatible.

Front hub vs rear hub vs mid-drive: which Bike Conversion Kits should I choose?

Hub kits are simpler and cost-effective; mid-drives often climb better and use the bike’s gears. Rear hubs usually give better traction; front hubs are often easiest to install.

Can I fit Bike Conversion Kits myself?

Many kits are DIY-friendly if you’re confident with bike mechanics and tools. If unsure, a bike shop can fit it and check safety-critical parts.

What should I check before ordering Bike Conversion Kits?

Confirm wheel size, brake type, dropout spacing, battery mount space, and your intended use (road-legal vs off-road). Compatibility checks prevent returns.
