Bici Elettriche

The best electric bike for an adult depends on the rider’s height, intended use, storage requirements, budget and preferred riding position. Compare frame size and style, battery capacity, assisted range, brakes, tyres, suspension, overall weight and maximum rider load before choosing. The most powerful model is not necessarily the best if lighter weight and easier handling matter more.

Electric-bike prices vary according to battery capacity, motor system, frame construction, brakes, suspension and included equipment. More expensive models may provide larger batteries or higher-specification components, but the best value depends on which features you will genuinely use. Compare the complete specification and available support rather than choosing on price alone.

Start with frame size, riding position, battery capacity, assisted range, motor rating, brakes, tyres and overall weight. Consider where the bike will be stored, whether you need to lift or transport it and whether it must meet UK road-use requirements. Warranty support and replacement-part availability are also important when comparing electric bikes.

Electric-bike range depends on battery capacity, assistance level, rider and cargo weight, hills, temperature, tyre pressure and riding conditions. Manufacturer figures are useful for comparison, but real-world range can be lower. Choose a battery with spare capacity rather than relying on a model whose maximum stated range only just covers your intended journey.

Electric bikes that qualify as Electrically Assisted Pedal Cycles can be used on public roads and cycle routes without registration, vehicle tax or compulsory insurance. They must have usable pedals, a maximum continuous rated motor output of 250W and electrical assistance that does not propel the bike above 15.5mph. A throttle that propels the bike without pedalling may require approval, so always check the exact model and its documentation.

Many road-legal electric bikes can be purchased through an eligible Cycle to Work scheme. Availability depends on the bike, your employer and the scheme provider. Contact TrailSurge before ordering if you need help confirming eligibility or arranging a Cycle to Work purchase.
